On this day, one year ago, I took a leap of faith and became a direct sales consultant for Rodan and Fields. I had watched several women on social media grow their side income with this company. Some even quit their full time career jobs to do it! Here, I’ll tell you about my experience over the past 12 months!

First of all, your team matters. I was blessed to find my sponsor, Kelsey Brady, on Instagram. We instantly bonded and I could tell she was so genuine. She wasn’t just trying to pull sales tactics to win me over and make some money. This business is about building relationships. The rest of the team did not disappoint. The funny part is, I am in Virginia and most of my team is in California! So not only are we building friendships, but we are doing so from across the country!

When it comes to starting any business, there is money up front involved. Whether you’re investing in a building or a product, you need money. With Rodan and Fields, there are 4 business kit options. I will say that most people will not find success with the “cheapest” option which only includes the business portfolio. Therefore, I am going to focus on the other 3 options.

The Business Kits

Buying a business kit is an investment and for me, I go in 100% with anything I do. Therefore, I purchased the largest business kit. It comes with all (now 6) skincare regimens, the AMP MD Derma roller, the Pore Cleansing System, a mini mask set, LASHBOOST, Active Hydration Serum, Active Hydration Body Replenish, Micro-dermabrasion paste, Intensive Renewing Serum, Multi-function eye cream, Radiant Defense Perfecting Liquid and brush, makeup remover wipes, gauze pads, 50 samples, a business portfolio; and a sleep eye mask! Okay, that was a lot to write out and I feel like I’m forgetting something! The kit has changed a little since I started because R+F is always looking to improve and launch new products! This kit is valued at more than $2,100 but you get it for $995 (55% off)! Not only that, you can claim it as a tax deduction for the year! You will NEVER see that much of a discount ever again. I also wanted to try all of the products so I could see, feel, and touch them in order to speak on them!

The core kit is the second option which comes with your 6 full regimens, Lashboost, the AMP MD roller and Intensive renewing serum, 10 samples of radiant defense liquid, gauze pads, and your business portfolio. This kit is still great and you can still be successful! However, you’re missing out on all of the other amazing products at a great discount. This kit is valued at $1,250 but you get it for $695 (50% off)!

The personal results kit is great if you are on a budget and can’t spare a few extra hundred bucks! With this regimen, you get your skincare regimen of choice, makeup remover wipes, gauze pads, Active Hydration Serum, Active Hydration Body Replenish, microdermabrasion paste, and multifunction eye cream. It is valued at over $450 but you get it for $395 (35% off)!

Getting Started

Once you take that leap and purchase your business kit, it’s time to get started! You’ll probably get the kit in about a week. While you anxiously wait, you will partner with your sponsor for your training! Like with anything involving success, this business takes effort! That’s with any MLM. You don’t become a consultant and wait for people to come knocking down your door wanting to buy the products! People need to see you, your experience, and your authenticity. I have had bad experiences with some MLM consultants and that has a lot to do with the intentions of the person. For me, I believe in being real and getting to know people. I won’t talk about something if I don’t believe in it. I also don’t believe in results overnight. Furthermore, mass messages that are not personalized, also called cold messaging, is not the way.

The Past 12 Months

When I started, I went full force 100% effort. I told everyone about it. I made my grand announcement post. I did my daily activity by making it present on my social media. I started off doing VERY well.

However, in the fall of last year, I started my Master’s program. I was and am still in the middle of planning my wedding. I work full time as an RN. I was working on my clinical ladder advancement (nurses know that takes a lot of time and effort and it is tedious!). Then, at the end of last year, I started applying for new positions and eventually ended up taking an RN Clinical Coordinator role on my unit! I also had a minor foot surgery and LASIK in the same year! Last but not least, we bought a new house, moved, and rented out the other one all within a few months! Not to mention making time for my personal life… My life is BUSY. But I created this chaos and enjoy it. (I work better under pressure).

My point is- that is the beauty of this business! It is flexible. You put in what you want out of it. If you want to make a full time income out of it, it’s possible! If you want to pay your car payment or just some monthly groceries with it, you can! If you can’t put any effort into it for a few weeks, months, or even years, you don’t have to! There are no minimum costs, sales, or hours for this business.

I will say that due to my exceptional effort when I started, I have a residual income from loyal customers who love the products and keep buying more. The products work so they sell themselves! You just have to do your part and show that they work.

If you have time to be on social media, you have time for a side gig.

You aren’t too busy for Rodan and Fields. I didn’t have the money for the largest business kit but I knew it was an investment. I used my credit card to pay for it. (Don’t tell Dave Ramsey). That investment has paid off time and time again! I made back my start-up cost in less than 6 weeks! Of course it took time and effort but I did it. So can you.

I’m not a sales person. I’m a nurse. You don’t have to be experienced in sales to do this. It is honestly a fun getaway that I find joy in but happen to make some extra cash with it too!

Anyway, that is my R+F story. I love telling it as it has changed my life! I was able to pay off my car a year early and I will be able to pay my student loans off faster. (Once I get through wedding expenses of course). I am so thankful for this opportunity and the bonds it has brought me through my customers and my team!
